If you want your audience to recognize your brand, consistency is fundamental, you must be consistent. Consistency helps you to grow your engagement and reach. You should be consistent in the tone of voice you use in messages to the details of your profiles because to pull your target audience, you need to be visible!
Consistent Voice
Be consistent in the tone you use in your social media copy. For you to be consistent in your messaging it is important to first understand who is this person you are talking to? You should use different vernacular when addressing different generations or target groups. Age, geographical location, gender, interests, interests etc. Are you speaking to millenials? Are you targeting professionals? Or young entrepreneurs? Understanding which group you are speaking to allows you to choose a tone of voice that resonates with your audience.
When your online communication is consistent, it can allow your audience to recognize your voice in the very same way you recognize your friend’s voice when they say “jambo” over the phone. Brand recognition is needed to build a loyal audience and following on social media, so be authentic. You already know who you are, you know what you do, and why what you do matters to people. Strive to communicate in a way that resonates with your audience but stay true to your brand. Every time you communicate, keeping your mission, vision, and values at the back of your mind when choosing your voice.
Consistent Content
Don’t just share on social media, don’t be all over and sharing any and everything. What do you know? Is it relevant to your audience? Yes! The goal is to be significant and also authentic. According to Facebook Blueprint Creative Best Practices, “You need to create content that; “makes your audience cry, makes them laugh or surprises/provokes their emotion.” You want to provoke a response from your audience, to draw their attention and make them engage with the content you create and share.
When sharing others’ content on social media, consider the source before retweeting or hitting ‘share’ on facebook. The posts that you share should be accurate and ethical in content, that is to say that you need to make sure they come from a legit source. Verify information as a way of ensuring you are trustworthy to safeguard your brand and reputation.
Consistent Posting
Consistent posting is key but try to find a balance. Ensure that you are not posting a certain type of content too much and neglecting or forgetting about another. For example, posting videos about sticking home wallpaper tips twice a day, every day can cause an imbalance with your other posts, like house décor sales or information about your business that goes out only once a week. When you are able to find a good balance in the amount you post for different kinds of content, be consistent when sharing that content. Having a posting calendar helps you share posts consistently on each social media channel.
Post on social media every day. Organic reach, which is the number of people you reach without paying to boost an advertisement or post, can reach only a certain amount of people. Each time you post is another opportunity to reach your audience. Posting consistently maximizes your organic reach.
It takes discipline and time to create consistency in everything we do, so follow your voice and build up to your goals. It takes time and practice. Baby Steps. One day at a time!
